गोविंद बल्लभ पंत अस्पताल 
The Radiology department in GIPMER was established in 1965. In the beginning the department started only with basic X-ray machine. In the late seventies the department got an image intensifier and serial changer for whole body angiographies. The first ultrasound machine was procured in 1986. Subsequently latest state of the art equipment like ultrasound with Color Doppler (1996), Spiral CT (1997), 1.5T MRI (2002), digital 1000 mA X-ray machine with Fluoroscopy (2004), 16 slice CT machine (2010), 1000 mA X-ray unit YSF120 BAR 3000 (2010), High end ultrasound machine (2011) & flat panel digital X-ray machine (2010), with state of the Art 256 MDCT (2011) along with High Resolution Ultra Sound with color Doppler unit (2018) were also procured.
In the last few years new 3T MRI unit, Portable x-ray units, CR system, Latest High End Ultra Sound machines with color Doppler, 1000 MA Digital Fluro Radiography Unit (DRF), 128 Slice CT scanner with latest software version VA40, in 2026 latest state of the art 256 Slice spectral CT 7500 imaging system equipped with advanced detector-based spectral technology, the first of its kind in North India were also installed.
Emergency services have also been started in the ground floor of D-block of this hospital to treat increasing number of critically ill patients.
Hepato-biliary interventional procedures like pig tail catheterization, drainage, PTBD, Biopsy are being routinely performed in the department.
