Departmental profile:

Department of Gastroenterology, GBPH is actively involved in patient care, teaching and research activities. The department runs a very active endoscopies service catering to large number of patients from all over North India. The department is a major referral center for the advanced endoscopic therapeutic procedures like endoscopic sclerotherapy, band ligation, and esophageal dilation, endo prosthesis placement, GI Manometry, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Third Space Endoscopy and ERCP. The department also runs a Gastroenterology laboratory where several biochemical and serological tests as per routine patient care.

Clinics : The department has daily morning OPD

Liver clinic:- Wednesday 2 PM.

Facilities available:

Therapeutic facilities include endoscopic sclerotherapy, band ligation, and esophageal dilation and endo prosthesis placement, GI Manometry, 24 hour PHmetry, Theraupetic and Diagnostic Endoscopic Ultrasound, Third space endoscopy and ERCP.

GI Physiology laboratory and Breath laboratory services are available for patient care

Beds: The department has 56 general ward beds of which 08 beds are marked for intensive care

Ward 7B, 3 rd Floor A Block

ICU:

Ward 7B 3 rd Floor A Block

Documents required for patient care:

• Referral from another hospital or department
• Details of tests already done
• List of medicines/treatment already prescribed

Academic activities:

• Three post-doctoral students are admitted each year for the DM Gastroenterology degree
• The department actively participates in National, International and State level conferences by presenting scientific papers and delivering CME lectures

Future plans: The Department is planning to upgrade its infrastructure to include a Endoscopic Operation Theatre for doing complex endoscopic procedures
